The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 2-1 on Tuesday night in Raleigh, North Carolina. The win gives Tampa Bay a 2-0 series lead before the series shifts back to Amalie Arena in Tampa on Thursday.
Alex Killorn gave the Lightning a 1-0 lead at the 7:09 mark of the second period. In the third period, Anthony Cirelli gave the Lightning a huge insurance goal at the 8:06 mark of the second period. That goal would prove to be huge when Andrei Svechnikov scored an extra attacker goal with ninety seconds left to pull within 2-1. From there, Andrei Vasilevskiy was able to make the saves he needed in the final ninety seconds for the Lightning to hang onto a 2-1 win.
All told, Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevsky went 31-for-32 in net to pick up the win, while Alex Nedeljkovic went 13-for-15 in net for Carolina.
The series now shifts to Tampa for games three and four. Game three will come up Thursday night - puck drop is scheduled for 8 PM with pregame coverage beginning at 7:00 on News Radio WFLA.
