Lightning Even Stanley Cup Finals 1-1

The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Dallas Stars 3-2 on Monday night to even up the Stanley Cup Finals 1-1.

It was a tremendous first period for the Lightning, who got the scoring started when Brayden Point scored on the power play at the 11:23 mark. Ondrej Palat scored at the 14:22 mark - also on the power play - to give Tampa Bay a 2-0 lead. Then, under a minute later at the 15:16 mark, Kevin Shattenkirk scored what would prove to be the game winner to give the Lightning a 3-0 lead.

The Bolts would need all of these goals, as the Stars began trying to come back in the second period. Joe Pavelski scored on the power play at the 14:43 mark of the second period to make it 3-1. Then in the third period Mattias Janmark scored at the 5:27 mark of the third period to pull within 3-2. That would be as close as Dallas could get, as Andrei Vasilevskiy went 27-of-29 in net for the victory.

The Lightning and Stars now look ahead to game three of the series which comes up on Wednesday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 PM with pregame coverage beginning at 7 PM on News Radio WFLA.
