Lightning Fall In Game One Of Stanley Cup Finals

The Dallas Stars defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-1 on Saturday night in game one of the Stanley Cup Finals.

The Stars were able to take the lead early in this game when Joel Hanley scored at the 5:40 mark of the first period. The Lightning were able to answer later in the frame when Yanni Gourde scored at the 12:32 mark to tie the game 1-1, which would be the score for the rest of the first period.

The Stars were able to take control of the game in the second period, when Jamie Oleksiak scored at the 12:30 mark to give the Stars a 2-1 lead. Dallas had a huge turn when Joel Kiviranta scored at the 19:32 mark of the second period that lifted the Stars to a 3-1 lead.

The Lightning were able to turn the tide of the pace of this game in the third period, as they put a lot of pressure on Dallas throughout. All told they had 43 shot attempts to just three for Dallas in the third period, but they were never able to break through. That was in large part to Anton Khudobin - the Stars goalie went 35-for-36 in net on the game to pick up the victory. The Stars were then able to clinch the win when Jason Dickinson scored at the 18:42 mark to give Dallas the 4-1 win.

The Lightning look to bounce back in game two of the Stanley Cup Finals on Monday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 PM with pregame coverage beginning at 7 PM on News Radio WFLA.
