Lightning Get Blowout Win To Take Series Lead Over Bruins

The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Boston Bruins 7-1 on Wednesday night to take a 2-1 series lead over the Bruins.

The Lightning set the pace early and often throughout this game. It began when Ondrej Palat got a power play goal at the 12:46 mark of the first. Yanni Gourde added a goal just 17 seconds later and the Lightning looked like they would take control. Early in the second period Mikhail Sergachev scored on the power play and it would be 3-0 before the Bruins could respond.

Brad Marchand would score on the power play to give the Bruins a sign of life. But the Lightning answered with three goals before the period could end - two from Alex Killorn and one from Brayden Point - to take a 6-1 lead into the third period. Nikita Kucherov scored at the 3:58 mark of the period to lift the Bolts to a 7-1 win.

Andrei Vasilevskiy went 23-for-24 in net to secure the win. Jaroslav Harek started the game in net for the Bruins and went 12-for-16 in net, before being pulled for Dan Vladar finished the game, converting 12 saves on 15 shots.

The Lightning will look to take control of the series when they meet the Bruins in game four on Friday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 PM with pregame coverage beginning at 6:30 PM on News Radio WFLA.
