The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1 on Monday afternoon. The win gives the Lightning a 3-1 series lead and they are now one win away from eliminating Columbus.
The Lightning struggled for much of the first period, but were able to come out of it scoreless. In the second period the Lightning were able to get started strong, as they came up with two goals in the first five minutes. After Barclay Goodrow scored just sixteen seconds in, Yanni Gourde made it 2-0 Tampa Bay at the 4:09 mark of the period.
Columbus would push back as Cam Atkinson scored at the 5:48 mark, but that would be as close as the Blue Jackets would get. Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy made some huge saves throughout this game,going 28-for-29 in net to secure the win. Columbus goalie Joonas Korpisalo went 20-for-22 in net in the losing effort.
Tampa Bay will now try to eliminate Columbus on Wednesday afternoon when the two teams meet in game five of the best of seven series. Puck drop Wednesday is scheduled for high noon - pregame coverage will begin at 11 AM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
