The Columbus Blue Jackets knocked off the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-1 on Thursday afternoon in game two of the best of seven playoff series.
The Lightning struck first in this game, when Nikita Kucherov scored at the 5:24 mark of the first period. The Blue Jackets answered quickly, however, as Ryan Murray scored at the 12:52 mark to make it 1-1. Before the first period ended the Blue Jackets took the lead - on a power play goal from Oliver Bjorkstrand scored on the power play with under two minutes to go in the first.
From there the Blue Jackets tightened up defensively. Joonas Korpisalo saved 36-of-37 shots on net to secure the victory for the Blue Jackets, while Andrei Vasilevskiy went 19-for-22 on net in defeat. When Alexander Wennberg scored at the 11:27 mark of the third, that would prove to be more than enough for Columbus to clinch the 3-1 win.
So the Lightning and Blue Jackets are tied 1-1 in the best of seven series. Game three of the series comes from Toronto on Saturday night - puck drop is scheduled for 7:30, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:30 on News Radio WFLA.
