The Tampa Bay Lightning (29-15-4) went into the All Star Break on an impressive note, getting a 7-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets (25-19-4) on Friday night in Canada.
The Lightning set the tone early with a three goal first period. Anthony Cirelli got it started with a goal at the 9:27 mark before Nikita Kucherov scored at the 12:21 mark to make it 2-0. Cirelli nailed his second goal at the 19:07 mark of the first period and Tampa Bay firmly took control. In the second period Nikita Kucherov added a second goal and Carter Verhaeghe to build a commanding 5-0 lead before Winnipeg got a goal back from Jack Roslovic to pull within 5-1.
In the third period Anthony Cirelli scored his hat trick goal to make it 6-1 before Alex Killorn scored his 20th goal of the season to make it 7-1, which would go onto be the final score. Andrei Vasilevskiy got the win in net for Tampa Bay, saving 30 of 31 shots. On the other end, the Lightning did all of their seven goal damage on just 26 shots.
