The Tampa Bay Lightning (27-13-4) defeated the Philadelphia Flyers (23-16-6) 1-0 on Saturday night in Philadelphia. For Tampa Bay it was their tenth consecutive win - the second year in a row the Lightning have put together a ten-game winning streak - as well as their second consecutive shutout.
The Lightning got the only offense they would need in the second period when Patrick Marron launched in a surprising, unassisted goal that gave Tampa Bay a 1-0 lead. From there, the Lightning put together a masterful defensive performance, allowing only 23 shots on net and very few of them dangerous. Andrei Vasilevskiy converted all 23 saves on net to pick up his second shutout of the season - it was also his second shutout of the week, as his first shutout came Thursday night against the Arizona Coyotes at Amalie Arena.
Carter Hart got the tough-luck loss in net for the Flyers, converting 27-of-28 saves in net for Philadelphia. Tampa Bay will be right back in action on Sunday night when they battle the New Jersey Devils in Newark - puck drop is set for 7 PM, and you can hear it beginning at 6:30 PM on News Radio WFLA.
