Seven Wins In A Row After Lightning Knock Off Hurricanes

The Tampa Bay Lightning (24-13-4) picked up their seventh win in a row as they defeated the Carolina Hurricanes (24-16-2) 3-1 on Sunday evening in Raleigh, North Carolina. For the Lightning it was their seventh consecutive victry, as well as the second win in as many nights on the road for Tampa Bay.

The Lightning set the tone early in this game - Mitchell Stephens scored at the 2:36 mark of the first, before Steven Stamkos added a goal just over two minutes later to give the Lightning a lead they would not relinquish. The Lightning got a 3-0 lead in the second period when Brayden Point scored at the 5:19 mark of the frame. Though the Hurricanes answered with a goal from Andrei Svechnikov in the third period, that was as close as Carolina would be able to get.

Andrei Vasilevskiy got the start in net for Tampa Bay and went 28-for-29 in net to secure the victory. Petr Mrazek took the loss in net for Carolina after converting 23 saves in 26 shots.

The Lightning return to Amalie Arena for a two-game homestand that begins on Tuesday night against Vancouver. Puck drop between the Lightning and Canuks is 7 PM on Tuesday night - pregame coverage beings at 6 PM on News Radio WFLA.
