Brayden Schenn scored with 58.2 seconds left in overtime and Jordan Binnington made 32 saves as the Blues defeated the Lightning 1-0 on Thursday night at Amalie Arena.
There was a ton of action back and forth in the extra frame, but Schenn scored for the first time in 12 games to send St. Louis home the victors.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first two periods, with the biggest scoring chance coming from Schenn in the first for the Blues.
After a wild scramble in front, Schenn was all alone in front and Andrei Vasilevskiy looked to be down and out. But in clear Vasy fashion, he was able to make the stop and bring the Amalie Arena crowd to their feet.
The Lightning netminder stopped 38 of 39 shots on the evening.
The Lightning penalty kill was strong once again, killing all three penalties they took.
BIRTHDAY BOY : Happy Birthday to Lightning captain Steven Stamkos, who celebrated his 29th birthday on Thursday.
