The Tampa Bay Lightning's All-Star defenseman appears to have dodged a bullet due to injury.
The Lightning said Friday that Hedman, who left Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Calgary Flames, will miss 3-6 weeks due to a lower-body injury.
Hedman left in the second period after taking a knee to knee hit from Garnet Hathaway and did not return to the game.
The defenseman will likely miss the NHL All-Star Game January 29th at Amalie Arena. Hedman was one of four Lightning players named to the Atlantic Devision squad, with captain Steven Stamkos, forward Nikita Kucherov and goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy.
