Arkansas Beats Penn State In Outback Bowl

The twenty-first ranked Arkansas Razorbacks (9-4) defeated the Penn State Nittany Lions (7-6) 24-10 on Saturday afternoon at Raymond James Stadium.

Arkansas scored their first touchdown on the final play of the first quarter when Raheim Sanders rans in a 3-yard touchdown pass. Penn State tied the game early in the second quarter when Sean Clifford hit Ke'Andre Lambert-Smith for a 42-yard touchdown, then Penn State hit a field goal to take a 10-7 lead into halftime.

The Arkansas Razorbacks took control of the game in the third quarter. Arkansas quarterback K.J. Jefferson ran in a 8-yard touchdown with 12:42 to go in the third. The next time Arkansas got the ball they kicked a 36-yard field goal to take a 17-10 lead. Raheim Sanders ran in his second touchdown of the game with 3:08 to go in the third quarter and the Razorbacks would take control of the game.

From there both teams went back and forth without scoring in the fourth quarter, and Arkansas picked up their first bowl win under head coach Sam Pittman. Arkansas finished the game with 361 yards rushing on the day, which ties their bowl passing record set in the 1990 Cotton Bowl.
