This was certainly not in the script.
At Monday Night RAW taking place at Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, the NSFW video above shows Seth Rollins being blindsided by a fan as he was exiting the ring.
As is the case with everything that happens in professional wrestling, fans and commentators alike believed it was part of the script, until they quickly realized that it wasn't.
Almost immediately, WWE security and officials joined the scrum to separate the "fan" from Rollins.
WWE issued a statement following the attack:
"WWE takes the safety of its performers very seriously. The individual who attacked Seth Rollins has been turned over to the NYPD and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
That individual, 24-year-old Elisah Spencer, was taken into custody by the NYPD and charged with attempted assault and attempted violation of arts and cultural affairs (disrupting a live sporting event).
