ESPN's Buster Olney Praises Tampa Bay Rays on Twitter as Best AL Team

The remarkable Tampa Bay Rays win yet another game on Monday night over the Boston Red Sox, and coupled with the New York Yankees' 8-7 loss to the Anaheim Angels, the Rays are now seven games up in the American League East on September's Eve. Now should be the time when pennant races are supposed to get hot, but the Rays are blowing the rest of the division, and perhaps the American League, in the wake of their dust.

And it's only now that members of the national media (well, at least one) are starting to come out of their shells and give the Rays the credit they have earned for making a mockery of the league, though if you read the comments under ESPN baseball scribe Buster Olney's proclamation about the Rays below, the rest of the country begrudgingly gives them credit while complaining about attendance issues and all the other things we debate about the Rays on a weekly basis on WDAE.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't, I guess...
