Tuesday's Tampa Bay Rays Game to Have MLB's First All-Female Broadcast Team

We're not saying you should turn off Dewayne Staats and Brian Anderson on Bally Sports Sun, or Dave Wills and Andy Freed on 95.3 WDAE for tonight's Tampa Bay Rays-Baltimore Orioles game, but if you do want to sample history being made, head on over to YouTube for the exclusive internet broadcast of the game, where an all-female crew of broadcasters will call a game for the very first time in major-league history!

Baltimore Orioles play-by-play announcer Melanie Newman will share the booth on YouTube's MLB Game of the Week with MLB.com writer Sarah Langs, while Alana Rizzo will be the on-field reporter, and Heidi Watney and Lauren Gardner will anchor pre- and post-game coverage.

“This is not something [like], 'Let's get these five girls together so we can show [off] the shiny new toy,'” Rizzo said with a laugh. “I mean, we've been doing this for decades. It's nice to show that we've earned this right, that this is what we've done for a long time. This is our job, and it's good that people are receiving it so positively.”
