Calijah Kancey Ruled Out Against Commaders

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today elevated defensive linemen C.J. Brewer and Mike Greene from the practice squad to the active roster for Tampa Bay’s Week 1 matchup against the Washington Commanders.

Brewer (6-2, 290) originally entered the league as a college free agent with the Buffalo Bills on May 16, 2022. He spent the majority of the 2023 season on Tampa Bay’s practice squad. Brewer has appeared in two career games, both for the Bills, logging two tackles. The Bowdon, Georgia, native played collegiately at Coastal Carolina (2017-21). Brewer ranks eighth in Coastal Carolina program history with 230 total tackles and is tied for fifth with 16.0 career sacks. He wears No. 95 for Tampa Bay.

Greene (6-3, 293) originally entered the league as a college free agent with the Buccaneers on May 16, 2022 following his participation in Rookie Minicamp as a tryout player. He appeared in 10 games for Tampa Bay in 2023, making two starts and logging six tackles. The Richmond, Virginia, native played collegiately at James Madison University (2017-21), where he appeared in 58 career games and recorded 177 tackles (39.0 for loss), 18.0 sacks, four passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He wears No. 91 for Tampa Bay.

In addition, the Buccaneers have downgraded defensive lineman Calijah Kancey’s status for Sunday to OUT.
