A man is being held on bond for trespassing at Mar-a-Lago just days after the assassination attempt on former President Trump.

38-year old Zijie Li was in court on Friday after police say he made repeated attempts to enter Trump's Palm Beach home.

He reportedly told Secret Service agents at the main gate that he had information claiming that China was involved in the attempt.

Li was let go with a trespass warning but last week he returned twice and was taken into custody.

Sheriff Ric Bradshaw says his agency is working hard to keep the former president safe.

"We protected the president for four years here, we never had a glitch. We work seamlessly with the Secret Service.

Roadways around Mar-a-Lago have been closed until the November election as a precaution and Li's bond was bumped up from $250 to $10,000, sending a clear message that security breaches will be taken seriously.

Li isn’t the first Chinese national to be arrested for trying to get onto Mar-a-Lago.

In 2019, a woman tricked her way through security after presenting two Chinese passports. She was later arrested with four cellphones, a computer, and a hard drive on her, leading to speculation that she might be a spy.

Later that year, another woman from China was arrested for trespassing and resisting an officer.
