MULBERRY -- An experimental airplane crashed at an airstrip in Polk County this morning, killing the man who built it.
Witnesses say the ultralight went nose down shortly after takeoff, at a small airstrip near Mulberry.
Polk Sheriff Grady Judd says the pilot, 76-year-old Arthur Canning, had ten years of experience flying ultralights.
The FAA and NTSB are investigating the crash.
