PLANT CITY -- The 89th Florida Strawberry Festival opens Thursday.
It's known for a wide range of musical acts, with some 20 on ground, as well as 85 rides and hundreds of food vendors, not to mention every imaginable presentation of strawberries.
Musical acts include Flo Rida, Foreigner, Black Eyed Peas, Cody Johnson, the Beach Boys, the Commodores, ZZ Top and Parker McCollum.
Associate director James Scott says the festival's large volunteer contingent, including volunteers from churches and other nonprofits that run various stands, help to maintain the small-town feel of an event that attracts more than 600,000 visitors.
