LISTEN: Are We Giving Up On New Year's Resolutions?

ST. LEO -- Many Americans have given up on New Year's resolutions. More than half of Americans tell a OnePoll survey (conducted for Almond Breeze) that New Year's resolutions are outdated.

Saint Leo University psychology professor Tammy Zacchilli says Americans may be giving up on resolutions because of the challenge of making longterm changes. "In this day and age with technology... we want instant gratification."

Zacchilli says you can make resolutions easier by breaking down big goals, such as losing weight or improving finances, into smaller steps. "If it's a big goal, that's OK, as long as you realize that you may need those smaller steps to get you there."

Zacchilli says you should also look for support from family and friends, or find a group that supports your goals.
