The Bucs Fall Short To The 49ers On The West Coast, 27-14

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-6) fell to the San Francisco 49ers (7-3) 27-14 on Sunday at Levi's Stadium.

Lavonte David and the Bucs defense started off on the right foot as the 12-year veteran sacked QB Brock Purdy on third down; David now ranks second in tackles in Buccaneers franchise history. Christian McCaffrey and the 49ers struck gold first on a four-yard TD pass from Purdy to McCaffrey with 3:55 left in the first quarter.

Baker Mayfield and the Bucs turned the ball over in the early goings of the second quarter; San Francisco capitalized with a 37-yard Jake Moody field goal, giving the 49ers a 10-0 lead over the Bucs with 7:21 remaining in the first half. Baker Mayfield and the Bucs responded with a 1-yard TD pass to Mike Evans; the Bucs trailed 10-6 with 1:48 left in the second quarter. Moody got the Niners another field goal, this time from 28 yards out, extending their lead, 13-7, with 16 seconds left in the first half.

San Francisco's defense forced a Buccaneer punt on the second half's opening drive, and the 49ers hit on a big 76-yard TD pass from Brock Purdy to Brandon Aiyuk, giving the 49ers a 20-7 lead in the third quarter. Brock Purdy later connected with Georgia Kittle on a 3-yard TD pass to give the 49ers a 27-7 lead over the Bucs in the third quarter.

Bucs RB Rachaad White punched it in from a yard out to narrow San Francisco's lead, 27-14 with 14:16 left in regulation. That ended up being the final score in the matchup.
