The nation's attorney general is looking at whether criminal charges should be filed against former President Trump. He's named Jack Smith as special counsel to oversee a variety of probes into the former President.

AG Merrick Garland said one probe is focused on whether Trump broke the law storing White House documents at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. The other involves last year's Capitol riot. Just this week, Trump announced another bid for the White House.
