When Betsy reached out and said her fiancé was such a Goon that he was getting a Goon Squad inspired groom's cake, and asking if we'd call him as he prepared for their wedding, we knew had to step up for an OG! So we called Adam, and then we crashed their wedding!
We met Adam and his best man Brian in late 2020 at Busch Gardens and he told us how much he loved the show, but we didn't expect this! Originally the plan was for us to cold call Adam as he got ready with his friends, but then we were moved to mornings. We ended up doing a video call with Adam, and when Brian handed him his phone we just started chanting Adam's name. It was a lot of fun to be a part of.
However, we never let on to the ultimate plan of us showing up at the wedding for what we thought would be a couple of photographs. Then, the wedding planner explained the plan as we waited outside the door. "They're doing the best man and maid of honor speeches now, and then we'll have the grand entrance." Moments later we were handed a microphone and walked into the room where 99% of the people probably had no idea who we were and winged it.
There were probably people wondering why the two of us idiots were there, but seeing the look on Adam's face was priceless.
Thanks to Betsy and Adam for having us be a part of their special day. It means the world to us to have a listener who identifies with our show so much that he'd have our logo on his groom's cake.
