Richard Sherman Will Not Return For Postseason

In advance of the Buccaneers first round playoff matchup against the Eagles, Tampa Bay placed cornerback Richard Sherman on injured reserve on Tuesday. Because it is his second stint on the IR, he will be ineligible to return to the team in the postseason.

Sherman was signed to the Buccaneers in late September, and played three games in twelve days before suffering a hamstring injury in Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles. He attempted to return against the Washington Football Team in Week 10, but suffered a calf injury in warmups and did not play.

Head coach Bruce Arians said on Wednesday that, even though he hasn't played and is still a player, that he is glad the team signed him because his off-field guidance has been an "unbelievable addition to our football team."

The Buccaneers host the Eagles in the first round playoff game on Sunday afternoon at Raymond James Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM - you can hear the game on 97.9 WXTB-FM - the Mighty 98 Rock.
