Ambulance Driver Accused Of Tossing Molotov Cocktails At EMS Facilities

An ambulance driver was arrested after allegedly throwing Molotov cocktails at several EMS facilities in Connecticut on Saturday (February 27). Richard White, 37, was arrested during a traffic stop on Interstate 80 near Milton, Pennsylvania, and is in the process of being extradited to Connecticut to face charges of third-degree arson and third-degree burglary.

Authorities said that White learned he was being placed on administrative leave following a disciplinary hearing on Saturday morning. He got into a physical altercation with another employee after the meeting was over, and the police had to be called. White fled the scene before they arrived.

Several hours later, police received a 911 call after White allegedly lit a Molotov cocktail inside of an employee room at the Hunters Ambulance station in Old Saybrook. About an hour later, White was reportedly spotted throwing another Molotov cocktail at the main Hunters Ambulance building in Meriden.

White then drove to Roxbury, which is about an hour away, where he is accused of internationally setting an ambulance on fire inside of the Roxbury Volunteer Fire Department. He then went to his childhood home and intentionally started a fire.

Around 10 p.m. on Saturday night, White was located in Pennsylvania and was taken into custody.

Authorities are still assessing the damage from the four fires, and White could face additional charges as the investigation continues.
