A two out two-RBI double by Brett Phillips with a number of errors ended what could possibly be the greatest World Series game in recent memory as the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-7 and even the World Series at two games a piece. The Dodgers were a strike away from winning a game where all their runs came with two outs in the inning, but the Rays fought back time and time again to beat LA and tie the series.

LA didn’t waste time in the game grabbing another early lead as Justin Turner went deep in the first inning for the second night in a row giving the Dodgers a 1-0 lead as Rays starter Ryan Yarborough struggled through his 3 ½ innings of work allowing two runs on five hits.Corey Seager continued his hot hitting in the third inning adding to Los Angeles’ lead with a solo home run making it 2-0.

Then a World Series record string of offense that lasted eight half innings began as Randy Arozarena set a new major league baseball record with his ninth home run of the postseason cutting the Dodgers’ lead to 2-1.Los Angeles would answer in the top of the 5th on a Max Muncy RBI single scoring Seager putting the Dodgers back up by two at 3-1.Tampa Bay answered back in the bottom of the fifth inning as Hunter Renfore blasted a solo home run into the left field stands to make it 3-2 Los Angeles.

However the Dodgers continued to not be denied with two outs in the top of the sixth inning as Enrique Hernandez RBI double put Los Angeles back up by two runs at 4-2.That’s when Brandon Lowe answered with a massive three run opposite field home run to give Tampa Bay their only lead of the game at 5-4. The lead would not last long as Joc Pederson came through pinch hit two-RBI single put LA back on top in the top of the seventh inning at 6-5.The Rays would not go down without a fight as Kevin Kiermaier came through with a lead off solo home run in the bottom half of the seventh tying the game at six a piece.

The Dodgers punched back in the top of the eighth inning on a 2-2 count from Nick Anderson and Corey Seager comes through with a bloop single to left field scoring Chris Taylor who led off the inning with a double giving LA the 7-6 lead which went to the bottom of the ninth inning.

Kenley Jensen came into the ninth inning and walked Kevin Kiermaier and Arozarena to put the tying and winning runs on base with Brett Phillips at the plate with two outs.On 1-2 cutter Phillips laced a single into center field which was bobbled by Chris Taylor allowing the throw home to be late scoring Kiermaier and off line allowing Arozarena to score the game winning run shocking the Dodgers and forcing the World Series to a best of three.
