Buccaneers Knock Off Broncos 28-10 Sunday Afternoon

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1) defeated the Denver Broncos (0-3) 28-10 on Sunday afternoon in Denver.

The Buccaneers set the tone early in this one - Chris Godwin made the most of his return from concussion protocol, pulling in a 10 yard touchdown pass to make it 7-0 with 9:58 to go in the game. Ryan Succop added a first quarter field goal and the score would be 10-0 heading into the second quarter.

In the second MIke Evans set the pace, pulling in two touchdowns to take a commanding lead. Though the Broncos got a touchdown from Tim Patrick and a long 56-yard field goal from Brandon McManus, the Buccaneers would head into halftime with a 23-10 lead.

Shaq Barrett, returning to Denver where he began his career, had a monster game with two sacks and a safety in the third quarter. Though Ryan Succop had one PAT blocked earlier in the game, he added a 35-yard field goal as time expired in the third that would make it 28-10, which would prove to be the final score.

Though the news was mostly good, the Buccaneers did suffer some key injuries, including a hamstring injury from Chris Godwin that will need to be followed through the week. The Buccaneers now prepare for a showdown against the LA Chargers next Sunday - kickoff in that game is scheduled for 1 PM.
