Florida Senior Care Facilities Install Procedures For Visitors & Staff

Coronavirus Concerns at Nursing Homes

Don't be surprised if you're asked to go through some extra steps while visiting an elderly loved one in Florida.

Governor Ron DeSantis has called for facilities that care for seniors to be extra careful with who can visit residents over concerns for coronavirus.

That's what's going on at Hibiscus Palace Assisted Living in Royal Palm Beach.

"Whenever they sign in we ask them to sanitize so that they don't bring germs in from outside the facility."

Director Andrea Mattis says her staff is also asking questions of visitors.

"Have you been sick? Have you been traveling? Because if they've potentially been exposed to the virus then we don't want them coming in and infecting our seniors."

Workers are also told to use hand sanitizer everytime they come in from the outside or touch their face.
