Vipers Impressive In First Ever Win

The Tampa Bay Vipers (1-3) picked up their first win in franchise histry as they knocked off the DC Defenders (2-2) 25-0 on Sunday evening at Raymond James Stadium.

The Vipers played well on the defensive side of the ball throughout, as they secured just the second shutout in the XFL this season. The first came when the DC Defenders shut out the New York Guardians 27-0 back on February 15th.

The Vipers made plenty of impressive plays on offense as well, as quarterback Taylor Cornelius played well with both his arms and his legs. Quinton Flowers was inactive (roster exemption) after leaving the team during the week - speculation is he was unhappy with playing time, though the team has not confirmed that.

Tampa Bay was able to make impressive plays through the air - including a catch from tight end Colin Thompson that left everyone in awe.

Head coach Marc Trestman was happy with his team's performance - after the game, he spoke about how he has seen how good this team can be.

Quarterback Taylor Cornelius started and finished the game in the absence of Quinton Flowers, and looked the best he has looked all season long in leading the team to their first ever win.

The Vipers now head back on the road when they head to Los Angeles to battle the LA Wildcats next Sunday night at 9 PM ET.
