Minnesota AT Iowa (PICK: Iowa -3)
Minnesota stepped up big time and looked like a team that belonged after a win over Penn State last week. Now the undefeated Gophers head to a stadium they haven’t won at in 20 years. Is this magic in the making? Iowa is very consistent at home especially against high ranked opponents. Iowa is coming off a tough loss to Wisco 24-22. Iowa is dominant on defense, Minnesota will face a tougher challenge defensively against Iowa. I think Minnesota used a lot of energy and emotion last week. I expect a flat showing from Minnesota, Iowa makes the stops on defense and wins the game.
Texas AT Iowa St (PICK: Texas +7.5)
I like the way Sam Ehlinger has led this Longhorn offense as of late. Texas has a duel threat in Sam and that will help them this weekend against Iowa St. Iowa St. has some issues in the secondary. Ehlinger and Texas will expose those issues and score on the road. I don’t know if Texas wins outright but this is a close game and a high scoring game at that. Comes down to a play or two late. Texas covers!
Kansas City AT LA Chargers (PICK: KC -3)
High scoring, yes. Shoot out, I have no doubt in my mind. I’ll keep this shoot out simple, Pat Mahomes, Pat Mahomes, Pat Mahomes. That’s all you need to know. He will prevail regardless of KC’s terrible defense. Take the Chiefs, they will not have a repeat of last week.
NY Jets AT Washington Redskins (PICK: Jets +3)
You are probably wondering why in the world I am choosing this game. This is Haskins first game as the full-time starter. He hasn’t taken his lumps yet. Sam Darnold of the Jets has taken his lumps and actually has looked pretty good when he is healthy. He had a nice showing against the Giants last week and I think that confidence and solid play continues. Both bad teams but Washington is worse and have a rookie going up against a not-so terrible defense in the Jets, at least up front. The Jets flip the script and have Haskins seeing ghosts. I think the Jets win outright but take the points to be safe.
