Florida State Rolls Syracuse Behind Career Day For Cam Akers

The Florida State Seminoles gave their home crowd a show on Saturday afternoon at Doak Campbell for homecoming as it was the Cam Akers show leading the way to a Noles 35-17 victory of Syracuse.Akers running for 144 yards and a career high four touchdowns as the Noles controlled the game from start to finish over a struggling Cuse squad who remain winless in conference play.

Alex Hornibrook made his first career start for the Seminoles as he led Florida State to scoring drives on their first two possessions.Each capped off by a Cam Akers touchdown run as the Noles jumped out to a 13-0 lead over the Cuse.

Following a Andre Szmyt 50-yard field goal for Syracuse’ first score of the game, Hornibrook and Akers led the Noles to score 21 unanswered points on a pair of Akers touchdown runs and a Khalan Laborn two-yard touchdown run advancing Florida State to a 35-3 lead.

Syracuse would cut into the Florida State lead with a pair of touchdown runs by Abdul Adams and Moe Neal, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Seminoles racked up 492 total yards of offense including 241 yards on the ground.

Florida State moves to 4-4 on the season including 3-3 in ACC play, and will host Miami next week in Tallahassee.
