Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sign LB Noah Dawkins, Release LB Deone Bucannon

(via Tampa Bay Buccaneers Communications) - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today the team has signed inside linebacker Noah Dawkins to the active roster.

Dawkins (6-1, 235), who entered the league as a college free agent this offseason, spent the 2019 offseason and preseason with the Cincinnati Bengals and has been a member of the team’s practice squad for the first five weeks of the regular season. The Lyman, South Carolina, native played in 47 collegiate games for The Citadel over four seasons, recording 166 tackles (31.5 for loss), 14.0 sacks, two interceptions and two forced fumbles. He will wear No. 52 for Tampa Bay. 

The Buccaneers also announced that linebacker/safety Deone Bucannon has been released. Tampa Bay’s active roster stands at 53.

In addition, the Buccaneers announced the team has signed running back Darius Jackson and quarterback Chad Kanoff to the practice squad, and waived RB Tony Brooks-James and QB Nick Fitzgerald from the practice squad.

Jackson (6-0, 220) has spent time on the practice squads of both the Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts earlier in the 2019 season. He has played in four career games since entering the league as a sixth-round selection (216th overall) by the Cowboys in the 2016 NFL Draft. The Sparta, Illinois, native and Eastern Michigan product will wear No. 43 for Tampa Bay. 

Kanoff (6-4, 227) was a member of the Detroit Lions’ practice squad earlier in the 2019 season, after spending the 2018 season with the Arizona Cardinals. The Pacific Palisades, California, native and former Princeton quarterback will wear No. 6 for Tampa Bay.

Tampa Bay’s practice squad remains at 10.
