USA TODAY: Tampa Bay Buccaneers GM Jason Licht Ranks As Worst GM In The NFL

USA Today NFL scribe Steven Ruiz has penned his latest NFL General Manager rankings in a recent post on the website For The Win. Ruiz ranks the 32 General Managers as such in his piece:

Ruiz states these reasons:

  1. Someone who understands that the NFL draft is very much like a lottery
  2. Cap management is also big
  3. A creative general manager
  4. A general manager who does not let the short-term needs get in the way of the long-term goal.d

Bucs - Jason Licht

With that stated, Ruiz broke into his rankings and it came out that of the current General Managers in the NFL, Licht ranks dead last (not counting new New York Jets Interim GM Adam Gase who took the job on May 15th).

31. Jason Licht, Buccaneers

Seriously, how does Jason Licht still have this job? He’s spent a TON of money in free agency and those moves have not paid off. He’s also botched most of his first-round picks, which have been near or in the top-10. And, oh yeah, he’s drafted TWO kickers! He justified this year’s pick by claiming that kicker is one of the most important positions on the roster. Let that sink in.
