(via Tampa Bay Buccaneers Communications) - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that the team has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with free agent running back Peyton Barber, re-signed linebacker Kevin Minter and kicker Cairo Santos, and released defensive tackle Mitch Unrein with a failed physical.
Barber (5-11, 225) he originally entered the NFL as a college free agent with Tampa Bay following the 2016 NFL Draft. In his three-year career, Barber has played in 47 games, with 21 starts, rushing 397 times for 1,517 yards and nine touchdowns, while catching 41 passes for 234 yards and a touchdown.
In 2018, Barber set career highs in rushing yards (871) and rushing touchdowns (five), both of which led the team. His 871 rushing yards are the third-most by an undrafted player in a season in team history, while his five rushing touchdowns tied for the third-most in a season by an undrafted Buccaneers player.
Minter (6-0, 246) played in five games for Tampa Bay last season, recording six tackles and a sack, while adding four special teams tackles. Minter originally entered the NFL as a second-round pick (45th overall) of the Arizona Cardinals in the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent his first four seasons with Arizona (2013-16), before spending the 2017 season with the Cincinnati Bengals. He spent the 2018 offseason and preseason with the New York Jets.
In his NFL career, Minter has played in 75 games, with 44 starts, totaling 257 tackles (23 for loss), 6.0 sacks, four passes defensed and a forced fumble. A native of Suwanee, Georgia, Minter played collegiately at LSU.
Santos (5-8, 160) appeared in seven games for Tampa Bay last season, connecting on nine-of-12 field goal attempts, as well as all 17 extra point attempts. Santos originally entered the league as a college free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2014. He played with Kansas City from 2014-17, before being waived and joining the Chicago Bears during the 2017 season. He spent time with the New York Jets this past offseason and played in two games for the Los Angeles Rams in 2018, before joining the Buccaneers. In his career, he has played in 62 games, connecting on 104-of-125 field goals (83.2 pct.) and 149-of-155 extra points (96.1 pct.).
A native of St. Augustine, Florida, Santos played collegiately at Tulane.
