Bolts Beat Bruins 3-2

These kids are alright.

Mathieu Joseph and Anthony Cirelli scored third period goals and Louis Domingue made 33 saves as the Lightning defeated the Bruins 3-2 on Thursday night at Amalie Arena.

The score was knotted at one going into the 3rd period, but two of Tampa Bay's youngest players were the difference makers.

Joseph's goal came after a strong play on the wall by Alex Killorn led to him being all alone in front of Boston goalie Tuukka Rask. Joseph made a slick move to the backhand and slid one by the Bruins netminder to put the Bolts up 2-1.

Less than two minutes later, Cirelli extended the lead on a shorthanded breakaway goal and the rest was history.

The Bruins took an early lead when one of the Lightning's top players made an uncharacteristic mistake.

In an effort to clear the puck out of the zone, Ryan McDonagh gave the puck away to Boston's Colby Cave. The young Bruins forward found David Pastrnak in front and he knocked it past Lightning goalie Louis Domingue just 2:04 into the contest.

The teams were fairly even for the next ten minutes but then the Lightning started pushing and you could feel the momentum turning in their favor.

That hard work paid off as Brayden Point scored his 21st of the year from the slot on a nice pass from Nikita Kucherov to tie the score at one with just over five minutes to play in the first.
