According to Tampa Bay Times Rays Insider Marc Topkin, the Tampa Bay Rays have agreed to a contract extension with Manager Kevin Cash through the 2024 season. According to Topkin, an official announcement could come as soon as today.
The 40-year old skipper in his fourth year in Tampa Bay had one year left on his original five-year $5-million contract signed going into 2015, plus a two-year option. According to Topkin, Cash along with the Rays worked out some restructuring of those terms and the new deal, he is now signed for six years, with an option for 2025.
Cash has amassed a 318-330 record since Joe Maddon departed in October of 2014 for the Chicago Cubs.
