The Tampa Bay Lightning (3-3) knocked off the Florida Panthers (3-3) 6-2 on Thursday night at the Amway Center in Orlando.
The first period was a back and forth affair that saw the Lightning strike first with a goal from Victor Hedman. After Juho Lammikko tied the game 1-1, Anthony Cirelli scored in the final seconds of the period to give the Bolts a 2-1 lead.
After Yanni Gourde gave the Bolts a 3-1 lead in the second period, the Panthers tried to push back in the third period. Frank Vatrano had the power play goal 2:09 into the third period that pulled Florida within 3-2, but the Lightning had an answer. Mathieu Joseph scored a power play goal at the 10:16 mark, and Alexander Volkov scored exactly one minute later, to put this game away. Joseph added another goal at the 15:05 mark to clinch the 6-2 preseason win for the Lightning.
The Lightning and Panthers meet for their final tuneup on Saturday before they prepare for the regular season. Saturday night's game from Sunrise is scheduled for 7 PM - pregame coverage begins at 6:30 on News Radio 970 WFLA.
