Kiermaier's Season Likely Over

ST. PETERSBURG (620 WDAE) -- Kevin Kiermaier's 2018 season will go down as one beset by injuries, and it appears that it will end in the same fashion.

The Tampa Bay Rays center fielder sustained a hairline fracture in his right foot when he was hit by a Masahiro Tanaka pitch in the bottom of the first inning.

Kiermaier would remain in the game until being lifted for Austin Meadows as a defensive replacement to start the fourth inning.

Kiermaier will finish 2018 having played just 88 games on the season, hitting .217/.283/.369 with seven home runs and 29 RBI.  He missed 57 games earlier this season after tearing a ligament in his right thumb April 15 that required surgery.
