Lightning Sweep Predators In Preseason With 5-2 Win

The Tampa Bay Lightning (2-2) knocked off the Nashville Predators (2-2) 5-2 on Saturday night to win the second preseason game in as many nights against the Predators.

A day after the Lightning won 5-1 over the Predators in Nashville, the two teams were on the ice once more, but this time at Amalie Arena in Tampa.  The Predators struck first, with Calle Janrkrok scoring late in the first period to give Nashville an early 1-0 lead.  The Lightning answered with goals from JT Miller and Alexander Volkov in the second to take a 2-1 lead, but Nashville got a goal from Ryan Ellis at the 19:59 mark to ensure the game would be tied going into the third period.

Both teams exchanged blows in the third period until the Bolts finally broke through with a goal from Dennis Yan at 13:01 to take the lead they would not relinquish.  In the final two minutes, the Lightning got empty net goals from Carter Verhaeghe and Cedric Paquette to take a 5-2 victory over Nashville.

The Lightning now turn their attention to the Panthers, who they will play three times in the next week.  The first matchup comes up Tuesday night from Amalie Arena - puck drop is scheduled for 7:30, and coverage begins at 7 PM on News Radio 970 WFLA.
