FSU Blows Past Northern Illinois 37-19

The Florida State Seminoles (2-2) defeated Northern Illinois (1-3) on Saturday afternoon in Tallahassee.

After a sluggish start to the season that has seen the Seminoles fall to Virginia Tech and Syracuse, the Seminoles struck early in this game.  After Jacques Patrick caught the first touchdown of the day from Deondre Francois, Cam Akers ran in a touchdown for a 14-0 Seminoles lead.  When Syracuse answered with a score in the second quarter, the Seminoles answered with two field goals to go into halftime 20-7.

After going up 23-7 over Northern Illinois, the Huskies scored in an attempt to rally to make it 23-13.  Early in the fourth quarter, Deondre Francois came through with a huge 78 yard touchdown pass to Tamorrion Terry to take a 30-13 lead.  From there the Seminoles were able to maintain control of a 37-19 win.

Francois went 23-for-31 with a season high 352 yards for his seventh career 300 yard day.  The Seminoles now prepare to head to Louisville to battle the Cardinal next Saturday at 3:30 PM.
