Over Half A Million Croatians Welcomed Their Team Home

Croatia might not have won the World Cup, but man their country was proud of them. Croatia became one of the biggest stories of the tournament. They came back from a deficit in nearly every knockout round, their president went viral, and Luka Modric walked away with the award for the best player of the competition. When they returned home on Monday they were greeted by a swarm of fans. Maybe that is putting it too lightly. Over 500,00 Croatians showed up to welcome the team home. That's 12% of the country's population! To put that in perspective, if 12% of the U.S. population showed up to greet a national team that would be over 39 million people! Check it out below.
