Monday's Win By The Numbers

ST. PETERSBURG (620 WDAE) -- The Tampa Bay Rays took their fourth straight win on this homestand Monday, beating up on the Washington Nationals 11-0.  Let's break down the win from the perspective of some of the important numbers of the day.

4:40: The time the Washington Nationals finally got into the Tampa Bay area Monday morning, after playing a Sunday night game at home against the Phillies that took nearly four hours to play (not including a 38 minute rain delay).  Nats players did not get checked into the team hotel until nearly 5:30.

43: The number of pitches thrown by Nats starter Gio Gonzalez in the second inning of Monday night's game.  Gonzalez faced seven batters in the inning, with the first six going to a full count, and all reached base.  He walked four, threw a wild pitch and gave up a grand slam to Kevin Kiermaier.

82: Blake Snell's game score for Monday night, after allowing just one hit and four walks in seven shutout innings with ten strikeouts.  It's the highest game score for a Rays starting pitcher this year, edging out Jake Faria's 81 in April 30 in Detroit, when he went eight shutout innings to beat the Tigers 3-2.

11: Number of extra-base hit for rookie first baseman Jake Bauers, in 18 games at the big league level.  He's tied for the franchise record with Delmon Young, who had 11 extra-base hits in his first 18 games in 2006.
