According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, Tampa Bay Rays center fielder Kevin Kiermaier will miss significant time due to a torn ligament in his right thumb. According to Topkin, Kiermaier is expected to miss 8-12 weeks which could place his return in July.
Kiermaier suffered the injury in the bottom of the first inning when he slid headfirst into second base while advancing on an error by Phillies left fielder Rhys Hoskins.
Kiermaier is currently batting .163 with 18 strikeouts in 48 plate appearances.
