Rays Make Cuts Before Sunday's Game Against Twins

PORT CHARLOTTE (620 WDAE) -- The Tampa Bay Rays finish the weekend with a home matchup against the Minnesota Twins.  Jake Faria will get the start for Tampa Bay.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:05, with coverage on WDAE beginning at 12:30 with Countdown to Opening Day.

Before Sunday's contest, the Rays made five fore cuts to the roster, all involving the pitching staff.  Right-handed pitchers Diego Castillo, Jose Mujica, Ryan Schultz, and Hunter Wood were all optioned to the minors, while righty Ryan Weber was reassigned to minor-league camp.  The current number of players in big-league camp is now at 54.
