Rays Look To Bounce Back Against Twins

FORT MYERS (620 WDAE) -- The Tampa Bay Rays will look to rebound from Saturday's loss against the Boston Red Sox by going across town to take on the Minnesota Twins at Hammond Stadium.  Blake Snell will get the start for Tampa Bay, taking on Kyle Gibson.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:05, with coverage on WDAE starting at 12:30 with Countdown to Opening Day.

CRON, ARROYO READY TO MAKE RAYS DEBUTS: Both first baseman C.J. Cron and infielder Christian Arroyo will make their debuts for the Rays Sunday.  For Arroyo, who came to Tampa Bay in the deal that sent Evan Longoria to San Francisco, it's the final step back from a broken hand that cost him a large majority of 2017.

"So the live BP was great," the infielder said.  "I went [Saturday.]  I faced [Alex] Colome, [Daniel] Hudson and [Sergio] Romo.  Just got in there and tried to get comfortable."

He said he saw about 30 pitches and swung at about a third of them.

For Cron, coming over from the Los Angeles Angels in a deal this spring.  It's about getting used to the travel in the Grapefruit League that players don't have to deal with in Arizona, and playing in a blue uniform for the first time.

"Utah was red.  My high school was maroon and gold, so this might be the first time," he joked.
