REPORT: Carlos Gomez Agrees To One-Year Deal With Rays

PORT CHARLOTTE (620 WDAE) -- After the trade of Steven Souza Jr., the Tampa Bay Rays found themselves a little left-handed heavy in the outfield with Denard Span, Mallex Smith and Kevin Kiermaier all hitting lefty.  That changed Wednesday afternoon.

Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com was the first to report that the Rays had agreed to a deal with free agent outfielder Carlos Gomez on a one-year deal

Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times says Gomez will get $4 million plus incentives for 2018.

The 32-year-old hit .255/.340/.462 with 17 home runs and 51 RBI with the Texas Rangers.  He was an All-Star in both 2013 and 2014 as a Milwaukee Brewer.  He was traded to Houston at the trade deadline in 2015, then moved across the Lone Star State in the middle of the 2016 season.
