Kiermaier Voices Displeasure In Deals

PORT CHARLOTTE (620 WDAE) -- One day after pitcher Chris Archer called the deals that sent pitcher Jake Odorizzi to the Minnesota Twins and outfielder Corey Dickerson to DFA limbo "perplexing," outfielder Kevin Kiermaier voiced his opinions on the matter.

"I am 100 percent frustrated and very upset with the moves.  No beating around the bush," Kiermaier admitted Monday.  "It's one of those things that makes you scratch your head.  You don't know the reasoning why, and then you see the team's explanation and still it's just like 'OK...well, so be it.'"

But with the frustration comes with the knowledge that as a professional and a leader on this team, Kiermaier will have to put any personal feelings aside and perform on the field.

"We can not sit here and dwell on things," Kiermaier continued.  "We can feel sorry about ourselves, chatter amongst eatch other, but it's over with.  It happened.  We still have a really good team in here.  We've got a lot of good guys and I believe in these guys."

Manager Kevin Cash said after Monday's practice that he's ok with his players not being happy with the deals.

"Our players are entitled to their opinion," Cash said.  "KK's smart enough to know and everybody in here's smart enough to know that we have to make decisions that aren't probably the sexiest decisions at time, but the people in this clubhouse are going to go about their business the same way as they would and go compete."
