Buccaneers - Gerald McCoy

(via Tampa Bay Buccaneers Communications) -The National Football League announced today that Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has been named to the 2018 Pro Bowl.

This is McCoy’s sixth career Pro Bowl selection and the sixth consecutive. McCoy’s six selections are tied for the third-most in team history, alongside Lee Roy Selmon (six, 1979-84) and Mike Alstott (six, 1997-2002). McCoy trails only Pro Football Hall of Famers Derrick Brooks – 10 consecutive selections (1997-2006) and 11 total (also 2008) – and Warren Sapp (seven consecutive selections, 1997-2003), for the most Pro Bowl selections in team history.

McCoy, the former third overall pick of the 2010 Draft, this season leads the Buccaneers in sacks (5.0) tackles for loss (12) and quarterback hits (22). McCoy’s 5.0 sacks are tied for the fifth-most by an NFC defensive tackle, while his 12 tackles for loss are second in the NFL among defensive tackles and his 22 quarterback hits rank seventh in the NFL and second among defensive tackles.

Since his first Pro Bowl season in 2012, McCoy has the second-most sacks (43.5), the fourth-most tackles for loss (62) and the fourth-most quarterback hits by a defensive tackle during that span.

The NFL also announced that four other Buccaneers players have been selected as alternates to the Pro Bowl: tight end Kwon Alexander (third alternate), tight end Cam Brate (third alternate) and linebacker Lavonte David (second alternate).
