The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that the team has placed defensive end Noah Spence on Injured Reserve and signed cornerback Deji Olatoye (pronounced Day-zhee OH-la-toy-aye) and defensive end Darryl Tapp.

 

Spence has played in all six games this season, starting three, registering nine tackles, one sack and one forced fumble.

 

Olatoye (6-1, 205) comes to Tampa Bay after having spent time with the Atlanta Falcons over the past two seasons, first on the team’s practice squad in 2016, before being promoted to the active roster. The Dublin, Ohio native originally entered the league as a college free agent with the Baltimore Ravens in 2014, seeing time on the team’s practice squad before joining the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad later that season. He spent the 2015 season with the Dallas Cowboys, first on the team’s practice squad, then on the active roster. In his career, Olatoye has played in 12 regular season games, with two starts, recording 17 tackles, four passes defensed and one interception. He also played in three postseason contests with the Falcons last year. Olatoye, who played collegiately at North Carolina A&T, will wear No. 27 for Tampa Bay.

 

Tapp (6-1, 270) is in his 12th season in the NFL, after having originally entered the league as a second-round pick (63rd overall) of the Seattle Seahawks in the 2006 NFL Draft. In his career, Tapp has played for Seattle (2006-09), the Philadelphia Eagles (2010-12), the Washington Redskins (2013), the Detroit Lions (2014-15) and the New Orleans Saints (2016). He has played in 162 career regular season games, with 38 starts, recording 314 tackles, 28.0 sacks, 20 passes defensed, 11 forced fumbles, 10 fumble recoveries and two interceptions (21 return yards, one touchdown). The Portsmouth, Virginia native has also played in six career postseason contests, with two starts, registering 15 tackles, 2.0 sacks and two forced fumbles. Tapp, who played collegiately at Virginia Tech, will wear No. 56 for Tampa Bay.

 

The team also announced that defensive end Marquavius Lewis has been signed to the practice squad. Lewis (6-3, 270) entered the league as a college free agent this offseason, signing with the Buffalo Bills. The South Carolina product spent the offseason and preseason with Buffalo and was on the team’s practice squad through Week 6. The Greenwood, South Carolina native will wear No. 78 for Tampa Bay.
