Storm Get Late-Season Pickup at DB

With one game left in the regular season the Tampa Bay Storm fortified their secondary.

FROM THE STORM (Tuesday) The Tampa Bay Storm has acquired ArenaBowl champion Allen Chapman, announced vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch.

“Allen brings depth to our defensive backfield,” said Gooch.  “His playoff experience will be a welcome addition to the team.”

Chapman (5-foot-11, 190 lbs., Kansas State) enters his fourth season in the Arena Football League and first in a Storm uniform.  The three-year veteran began his AFL career with the Arizona Rattlers in 2014.  That season, Chapman started in 9-of-14 games for Rattlers, including a start in ArenaBowl XXVII which saw the team defeat the Cleveland Gladiators 72-32.

Chapman would spend the 2014 and 2016 seasons with the Rattlers, and the 2015 season with the Portland Thunder.  For his career, he has tallied 85.5 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, seven interceptions, and 17 pass breakups.  Of his seven interceptions, four were returned for touchdowns.

The San Francisco, CA native began his professional career with the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League when he signed with the team as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2013.

Chapman began his collegiate career at City College of San Francisco before settling in at Kansas State.

The team placed defensive lineman Max Nacewicz on injured reserve
